War

http://article.wn.com/view/2011/03/14/War_Hurting_Learning_in_Continent/

I feel like the past couphttp://www.blogger.com/post-create.g?blogID=1720735478540647166le of years that we (Americans) have spent a lot of money on war. The purpose of Americans going to Iraq was to get the weapons of mass destruction, but they didn't even find any thing. I don't understand all the wars we have had why do we have to go to there country and mess up there whole life style. In Afghanistan most of the kids are suffering with school because they don't have the supplies and a place where they can teach these innocent children. I feel like we took away those kids dream because they are suffering without a school system while we have a school system over the States.

Drop Out

http://articles.sfgate.com/2005-04-05/news/17368754_1_oakland-schools-graduation-high-schools
Every time I turn on the news or read the paper the news is always talking about how bad Oakland, CA is because of the killing. I feel like the media portrays Oakland as a city where people should never put foot in because you might just get shot any where you go. The media makes people think that Oakland is not a place where you should raise your children. If the city of Oakland did they part, by giving young children jobs and having after school programs than there wouldn't be all this crime. The school has cut out a lot of after school programs and sports as well. The city of Oakland has to reconsider the things there are doing and make sure they bring back after school programs because Oakland has a high drop out of students. Oaklands drop out rate is 52% of students.. Damn now that is half of the students who might not even have a job since they dropped out of school. The city of Oakland has not done a good job with the school system at all and they should be ashamed of the drop out rate.

Prostitution....

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/31/nyregion/prostitutes-fears-grow-as-remains-on-long-island-are-identified.html?_r=1&ref=prostitution
Prostitution is a common thing around the world now. Most drug dealers who use to sell drugs turned into pimps because its a safer way out than selling drugs. A pimp who has four woman make 600,000 dollars tax free a year. A lot of people think most of the woman out there selling there body grew up one day dreaming about becoming a top prostitute, but that's not how it goes. One of my best friend is a prostitute and she was an honor role student who had dreams in becoming a social worker, but a single day can change a person life dramatically. Its hard for me to look into her eyes because i know she is on drugs and she could of been doing something way better in life. "Money makes the world go round", People do anything for money if the money is right. Money has the power to control peoples minds because if you came from a place where you never seen a lot of money than you would do anything to take care of your family and children at the end of the day.

Redefining sex trade

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/05/24/us/24oakland.html

This article caught my eyes while I was reading the NY Times because a lot of people do not realize that a lot of young girls are out in the street selling there body for sex. There are young girls who are 12 years old out in the streets, the younger the girls are the more money their pimp will make of the girls. There has been an estimate of 100,000 to 300,000 American born children who are sold for sex each year.

Live Shooting caught on video in Oakland

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AKTbhYl5cVU

CBS news crew were interviewing a police officer and while they were interviewing the police officer there were shots fired 100 ft away from the police station near East Mount Mall in Oakland, CA. A elderly woman in the middle of the whole shoot out and got shot in the leg and a young man. Who would imagine that any body would fire there gun 100 feet away from a police station. That shows me that nobody is safe anymore in the city of Oakland.

The Death of Osama bin Laden.....

http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/b/osama_bin_laden/index.html

Osama Bin Laden was killed May 02, 2011, by American top military team and the C.I.A. who said they tracked him in a compound in Pakistan. When most Americans found out that we (Americans) finally killed him they were out in the streets having a party.  Most Americans fear Bin Laden because of what happen on September 11, 2001 when the twin towers were taking down by an airplane. I just don't understand how it took us ten years to find one person with all the technology we have, I feel we should of found Bin Laden years ago, but who am I to say anything. I feel like government doesn't ever tell us the truth behind anything. Most of the news we read or watch on television isn't true because that is what they want us to think. At the end of the day Im glad we finally got Bin Laden, but it would of meant more to me if we had him alive.

SB1070

Overall with the SB1070 law, I personally don't agree with purpose of the law because it allows racial profiling. This law is just showing me that America does not want to be populated by other races. I think this law should never of been past because now people who don't have the proper paper are in fear of leaving their families behind.
